Hello! I’m Jeannette, known in the art community as JR Julich.

I’ve always been inspired by the intricate patterns, delicate details, and overlaying textures of the natural world. My work is an invitation to explore past recognition, to truly see the unique nuance of each animal.

By utilizing varying densities of white and black pencil, a touch of white acrylic, and archival mat black paper, I’m able to play with the idea of light and shadow to evoke depth while drawing your attention to the intricacy of nature.

Largely self-taught, when I draw, I fall into a state of creative flow where time holds still. Referencing images or tangible objects such as antlers and feathers, I closely study the complex structure they hold and meticulously transfer it to the page. In those moments, it’s just me, the animal, and the drawing taking form.

I hope my work invites you to pause and gives you the opportunity to see past what you expect, into the rich reality of the unique creature before you.

My artwork can be found in private collections in both Canada and the US. My illustrations have also been featured in book publications and as community murals.
